Note: This is the original
petition which was sucessfully promoted and signed by over 17,000
people in support of The Passion of the Christ. We began this in
defense of Mel Gibson and the movie in August, 2004. It remains here
for people to view. It was a long road of attacks leading up to the
successful opening on Feb 25, 2004. Thanks to many countless
volunteers across this country, the TRUTH has prevailed.
Text of the Petition:
We the undersigned
support the movie ?The
Passion of Christ? as
filmed, directed and produced by Mel Gibson
and
his collaborators. We want to see the version of this
movie which THEY want the public to see -- not a censored
or deformed version which the enemies of this movie are trying
to engineer.
We support the idea of making a realistic
movie about the last 12 hours of the life of Jesus Christ
leading up to His crucifixion, a movie which demonstrates
the extent of the suffering He was willing to
endure for us,
and the Love He has for us. We
support Mel Gibson's attempt
to make this movie
in a way that reflects the Gospel and is
faithful
to the literal words of the Holy Evangelists in the
New Testament.
We also want to
make it known
that we would like to see this movie shown in
our
local theaters, and that we intend to go out and see the
movie with our families at our local theaters when it is released.
We know that the enemies of Christian civilization
-- who
are identifying themselves for all to see
by announcing themselves
as the enemies of this
movie project -- will maneuver till
the end to
block this movie. We pledge to help Mel Gibson
set
up an ALTERNATIVE DISTRIBUTION NETWORK for wholesome entertainment
if this movie is blocked from the regular movie
theaters.
